About Anagen
Turning a bald scalp fully hairy through science, innovation, and compassion.
Origin story

In High School, Verbs nicknames Bakst 'Patches' due to his diffuse pattern alopecia. Verbs finds it very funny... Bakst, not so much.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple: to solve hair loss such that a slick-bald scalp can become fully hairy again.
We live in a world where we are talking about sending people to Mars and building artificial intelligence, yet we still can't reliably regrow hair on the human scalp. The lack of progress isn't because the problem is unsolvable, it's because it has been systematically neglected.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), which funds the overwhelming majority of early-stage biomedical research, arbitrarily classifies male and female pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) as a cosmetic condition versus a disease. As a result, androgenetic alopecia receives only ~$5 million per year in basic research funding globally, a trivial amount for a condition that affects billions of people.
As a former colleague once put it, “If you suffer from something, it is a disease.” From our own experience, and from listening to our community, there is no question that people living with hair loss suffer, regardless of how institutions choose to classify the condition.
This chronic underfunding has stalled innovation and narrowed creativity across the entire field. Meanwhile, highly profitable telehealth companies have emerged to sell decades-old treatments, pouring nearly all of their resources into marketing while investing virtually nothing into research and development. Patients are left cycling through the same limited options, with little hope for meaningful improvement.
Anagen was founded to break this cycle.
We are a research organization first and foremost. Our goal is to build a telehealth platform that not only brings better treatments to patients faster, but also reinvests the majority of its profits into advancing the science of hair biology itself. Every product we ship is a step toward something better.
We won't stop until hair loss is solved once and for all.
